MOTOROLA MOTO G DUE TO RECEIVE ANDROID 5.0 BEFORE WINTER HOLIDAYS

After Google’s recent announcement of the next version of their operating system, Android 5.0 Lollipop, phone manufacturers have been busy making announcements of their own, with Motorola the latest to confirm which of their phone models will receive the update.
The Motorola Moto G is just one of their popular handsets due to be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop, with many others also being confirmed. These include the Moto X, the 2nd Gen Moto X, the Moto G, the 2nd Gen Moto G, the Moto G with 4G LTE, the Moto E, the Droid Ultra, the Droid Maxx, and the Droid Mini.
While a date has not yet been finalised for when the update will begin rolling out to devices, it is rumoured that the Moto X, Moto G, Moto E and Droid devices will receive the update in either November or December. Motorola will reveal further details regarding the update of the devices after consulting phone carriers and other various partners, all of who are involved in the update distribution process.
Android 5.0 Lollipop, which Google announced last week, is set to bring plenty of new features to Android devices, whether they be phones, TVs, or even smart watches. With this new operating system, Google are aiming to provide a consistent experience across all Android devices, with all devices sharing the same interface and having the ability to connect seamlessly to each other. Android 5.0 Lollipop also brings a new battery saving feature to devices which is estimated to extend the battery life of a device by up to 90 minutes. As well as this, security improvements have also been made, with Lollipop adding a Smart Lock feature to devices which will allow them to remain unlocked when in the presence of another supported Android device. When the other device is removed, the original device will automatically be locked. Android 5.0 Lollipop also allows users to disable their phone remotely in case of theft, and by default, encryption of the phone’s data has been enabled.
Updates have already begun rolling out to various Android devices, with the HTC Nexus 9 tablet and the Motorola Nexus 6 among the first to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
